Friends of the Foss
Friends of the Foss is a group within the Tacoma Waterfront Association that is dedicated to bringing people together on the waterfront; friends, family, or simply passers by. Friends of the Foss brings entertainment, food and fun to enjoy time listening to music, laughing at clowns, drawing with sidewalk chalk, petting a reptile, or simply basking in the sun and the knowledge that all are welcome here, on the waterfront, in this special place.
The Tacoma Waterfront Association, through its Friends of the Foss committee, is a Tacoma Creates grant recipient receiving impact funding to preserve arts, culture, heritage, and science. This afforded us the opportunity to install five new heritage interpretive panels along the downtown waterfront esplanade showcasing the waterfront history.
The first new panel is located on waterfront side of The Henry apartments with the final new panel installed at the Murry Morgan Bridge. Well worth a stroll and a look for your reading pleasure.
We are currently planning to restart our famed Free Concerts on the Foss Waterway in August, health restrictions permitting. On Sunday, August 29th we will provide family friendly music, puppets and the world famous Reptile Man! It will be quite a day on the Foss as we will be joined by activities from the Foss Waterway Seaport Museum and the Museum of Glass. This is a day not to be missed!
The future of the downtown waterfront is bright – take some time to come out and enjoy it!
